Questions 1, 2, 3

Students with special needs working in a regular education classroom pose many challenges. Using the special education teacher, SLP and OT as additional instructional staff provides the teacher and students with additional resources for learning. Research has shown using more specialized staff for instruction provides the students with additional instructional time, specialized instruction and benefits to the special education students in addition to benefits for regular education students. The co-teaching model, when used appropriately, is a win-win situation for all. It provides resources that would not have been available as well as providing customized learning situations.
